During the summer of 2025, Galicia and northern Portugal were hit by the most devastating wave of wildfires in Spain’s recent history. Prolonged drought, extreme temperatures and strong winds fueled fires that swept across rural areas, forests and villages, overwhelming emergency services and leaving lasting scars on the landscape and local communities.
